The birds are gilded in 24 carat gold. The reverse also includes the inscription 2006 THE AUSTRALIAN KOOKABURRA 1oz 999 SILVER. The obverse design bears the Ian Rank Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and includes the monetary denomination. A gold plated pin featuring a kookaburra design theme accompanies the coin.
