The solemn opening section captures the melancholy feeling which surrounded the city. The spirited dissonant 2nd section represents the famous wall which separated families and cultures. A trumpet solo pays tribute to those that perished in the quest for freedom. "Berlin 1965" is an excellent concert or contest selection.
