Mississippi John Hurt – Avalon Blues: Complete 1928 Okeh Recordings (CD) artist-kings-of-leon including songs he played withRecorded in two sessions for Okeh Records in 1928, these thirteen tracks represent one of the most quietly influential documents in American music. Hurt's fingerpicking style, rooted in the hill country around Avalon, Mississippi, sounded unlike anything else coming out of the Delta tradition, and when these recordings helped researchers track him down in 1963, his rediscovery became a defining moment of the folk revival.
